This group is born as an Erasmus plus initiative among Italy, Spain and Turkey to study the state of the art of Energy in our countries and learn from the best practices developed by the partners.

In the last years, Energy is achieving a larger strategic position, not only for the control of these resources but for the importance of looking after the planet health. The known as Green Energy seams to be the intelligent movement to take to keep the planet and all species living on it safe.

OUR MISSION

The project will near boundaries by understanding the different ways of living and keeping open minds.

While working on better know the reality of the energy supply in these countries, the participants have the chance of learning from other cultures, languages, traditions…

The first interchange experience was developed in Italy between October the 23rd and October the 29th.

Sunday 23rd October

Arrivals

Our trip started one day earlier; we left our home countries on October the 22^nd in order to get to Cittanova on October the 23^rd.

It was a very exciting day as after spending the whole day travelling, finally, we were going to meet to our Italian mates. At the meeting point, they and their families were waiting for us. They received us and helped us to locate the school and the important points in the city.

Monday 24th October

9:30 – Official Opening at “Cinema Teatro Gentile”: Welcoming Ceremony:

Tuesday 25th October

9:00 – Presentation of the project and activities about traditional and alternative sources of energy.

13:00 – Lunch In San Giorgio Morgeto

14:30 – Visit to San Giorgio Morgeto and its ancient castle. In this old village traditional handcrafts and the Mill are still at work

18:30 – Return home

On Tuesday morning we were working on the project. We were studying the activities about traditional and alternative sources of energy and their effect on nature.

In the afternoon we were visiting San Giorgio Morgeto, a location near Cittanova with great views. We could discover their traditional food and also there was a space to enjoy the crafts in the town and their artisans.

Wednesday 26 th October

8:30 – Visit to “NOEL” The Natural Ocean Engineering Laboratory of the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria. It is the first ocean engineering laboratory working in the field. A peculiarity of the lab is that a local wind from NNW often generates sea states consisting of pure wind waves that represent a small scale model, in Froude similarity, of ocean storms.

11:00 – Visit of the Magna Graecia National Museum and its Bronzes of Riace

13:00 – Lunch

15:30 – Sightseeing Scilla and Chianalea

20:00 – Return to Cittanova

On Wednesday we were at “NOEL” The Natural Ocean Engineering Laboratory of the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria. There the Professor Giussepe Barbaro was sharing us their investigations about alternative energy sources provided by the sea. They shew us the way to use tides and waves to generate clean energy. They shared us even a solution they ere working on to implement these solutions without changing the landscape.

We were visiting Magna Graecia National Museum, where we could see the Greek bronze sculptures found in the sea. The region is covered with the rest of ancient cultures who had been located at the area along centuries.

To finish the day, we were visiting Scilla and Chianalea, lovely sea locations.

Thursday 27th October

9:00 – Presentation of the project and activities about traditional and alternative sources of energy

13:00 – Lunch at school

15:30 – Group works in the school

20:30 – Dinner at “1840” Pub in Cittanova

On Thursday we were working on the energy, the use of alternative energies, and how we could contribute to a responsible use of it. We took the chance to interchange the participation diplomas.

In the afternoon, we enjoyed a volleyball match and later in the evening a group dinner.

Friday 28th October

9:00 – Visit to “Fattoria della Piana” a farm which is an oasis of sustainibility where the ecosystem replicates the natural process and produces more energy than it consumes

13:00 – Lunch at the farm

14:30 – Visit to Zungri: The caves and the museum about rural civilization

20:00 – Return Home

On Friday, we visited “Fattoria della Piana” a farm which is an oasis of sustainability where the ecosystem replicates the natural process and produces more energy than it consumes, the farm is able to generate bio energy for the homes near the farm, just by employing the remainders from their products and activity.

In this farm they grow local fruit such as apples and pears. They feed cows, goats and other animals. With the milk they produce different kinds of cheese. The farm is all automated, so they keep track of all animals and ever their health situation. Tasks as food gathering are also automated by employing mobile robots. All remains from the farm work as resource to produce bio energy. A totally sustainable example of productive activity.

In the afternoon we visit Zungri, the caves and the museum about rural civilization.

The final day. Students and families were all there to wish us a good travel and hoping to meet soon. Of course we will keep contact as they all are already part of our own history.

It was a very exciting day because after travelling all day, we were finally going to meet our Turkish friends. They and their families were waiting for us at the airport.

Workshop 1. Water and energy and their symbolism in art and music.

Statistics regarding wind energy production and consumption.

Students investigate the Bernoulli effect, build different wind vanes, take measurements.
